What in the World?
The Pinnacle of Technology (part 2)
The pinnacle of technology ‒ how does this pertain to our discussion?
The pinnacle of technology is the height of control that will ultimately be exerted by the Antichrist upon humanity during the Great Tribulation.
And stated once again, technology is to be the vehicle for the implementation of the most important aspect of global control during the close of the age. A technological pinnacle the Bible so explicitly warns all humanity to be aware of and to avoid at all cost.
The Bible does not describe the technology in place at the time of the Great Tribulation: it describes the world's economic, political, religious, and military system that will be in place at that time. What has seemed an impossible scenario to many previous generations, today, through the lens of our world's technological capabilities, the viability of these prophetic scenarios is not only plausible, but in effect, easily accomplished. This scenario will be put into place by a man the Bible describes at great length.
The rise of the Antichrist
Some might believe that the Bible's references to the Antichrist are relegated to the New Testament. This is not the case. The Bible references the Antichrist in both Old and New Testaments. John Barnett, in his video on the Antichrist, explains how the apostle John incorporates a great deal of information from other parts of the Bible into the book of Revelation, including the names of the Antichrist, and says, "Remember, John [in the book of Revelation] ties the whole Bible together: 404 verses, over 800 allusions to all the other books of the Bible, amazing! And he [John] just networks the whole Bible together ‒ that's why Revelation is so important."
In fact, the Bible is replete with references to the Antichrist. The Bible has some 33 Old Testament titles and 14 New Testament titles, making him one of the most referenced personalities in the whole of Scripture. The video can be viewed here. One study Bible commentator provides a snippet of his titles and says,
He is called "the son of perdition" in 2 Thessalonians 2:3, as well as "the man of sin." Daniel calls him "the prince that shall come," Isaiah calls him "the wicked," and Christ calls him "the abomination of desolation" (Dan. 9:26; Isa. 11:4; Matt 24:15). John simply calls him "the beast" (Rev. 13:1) (Henry Morris Study Bible, p. 2017).
And there should be little question as to the reality of this coming man. The real question is when will he appear? There have been volumes of book written on this issue, some biblically sound, some not very accurate. Nevertheless, because of the length and emphasis of the Bible's explanation of this man, combined with the Antichrist's preeminent position and rulership of the world at the close of the age, we should give attention to understanding this false messiah. In his book, Beast Tech, Thomas Horn provides a summary of the Antichrist's appearing, and writes (italics added),
It's been assumed for centuries that a prerequisite for the coming of the Antichrist would be a "revived" world order ‒ an umbrella under which national boundaries dissolve and ethnic groups, ideologies, religions, and economics from around the world orchestrate a single and dominant sovereignty. At the head of the utopian administration a single personality will surface. He will appear to be a man of distinguished character, but will ultimately become "a king of fierce countenance" (Daniel 8:23). With imperious decree, he will facilitate a One World Government, universal religion, and global socialism (Horn, p. 32).
What is currently underway across the planet is a promise of a utopian world order ‒ a Great Reset ‒ an opportunity to change how the world operates and is governed. Those implementing the global makeover promise us a brave a new world order where all peoples everywhere will prosper and the ills of the world will be resolved. A good place to begin is at the United Nations Agenda 2030, where the leaders of the world publicly display their goals and aspirations for such a utopian society. While many of these goals are commendable, the underlying requirements to achieve these goals will be forced upon the nations and peoples of the planet. Furthermore, the attempt to achieve this utopian all-embracing world order is one that points to a fulfillment of the Bible's declarations.
The rise of his power
Yet, a utopian world is not what the Antichrist will view as his goal. In fact, to understand the ultimate goal of the Antichrist, it is imperative to remember that his aim is world domination, followed by worship from the peoples of the world, and positioning himself to appear to be God in front of the entire world's population. Ryan Pitterson concisely states the goals and aspirations of the Antichrist, saying,
Note the wicked aspiration and pride of the Antichrist in the passage from Isaiah: He will remove "all bound of the people," achieving global dominance and a one-world government. He'll control the wealth of the world and defeat all opposition. He will "gather all the earth," and no one will be able to take any significant action without his authorization. The only leader in the Bible to achieve this level of worldwide dominance is the Antichrist, as prophesized in the book of Revelation (The Final Nephilim, p. 78).
In fact, it has been pointed out that what Satan offered to Christ in the wilderness when Jesus was tried and tempted for 40 days, which Christ declined and rejected, will be given to the Antichrist during the Great Tribulation. Consider what Satan said to Jesus: "Again, the devil took him [Jesus] to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me" (Matthew 4:8-9 ESV). At some point, all the kingdoms of the world and their glory will be handed over to the Antichrist, who will seek to be worshipped by the world and show himself to the peoples of the world to be God, as explained to us in the following passages (italics added).
And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain (Revelation 13:7-8 ESV).
Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God" (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 ESV).
And no one will have the power to resist the Antichrist. In fact, world leaders will hand over control of the world system to the Antichrist. The book of Revelation attests to this, saying (italics added),
"And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?...And the ten horns [ten world leaders] that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast. These are of one mind, and they hand over their power and authority to the beast" (Revelation 13:4; 17:12-13 ESV).
And the Antichrist will obtain world control and no one will successfully challenge his authority. And at the height of his authority and power and dominance, a decree will be made that will prove to fulfill what is today among the most discussed aspects of the entire Bible ‒ the Mark of the Beast ‒ a true technological marvel.
