About This Site

Thank you for visiting this site. I hope you find some benefit from being here.

Why did I write this website?

I believe it is helpful to provide a small amount of information for my reason for writing this web site.

First, I chose to write this information anonymously. My reason for this is because I consider Cast Up! to be a service to others without any attempt to draw attention to myself—at least any more than is necessary. In today’s media rich environment many work feverishly to garner as many likes and subscribers as possible and hope for the celebration of “going viral” and such. I have no interest in anything of the sort. If you are here it is most likely because you received a flier in your mailbox. I decided to take this approach to spreading the word about this site by inviting, as it were, people to visit Cast Up!

Secondly, I wrote this information because I am grieved, as many are, at what we might refer to as the propagation of inaccurate, misleading, and often blatantly discreditable information across our nation. What is far more alarming are the attempts to discredit the Bible and turn people away from the truth found in Jesus Christ. This is of course nothing new, but it appears the situation is rapidly growing more dire. Added to this is the increase of unsound biblical information and the spread of aberrant theological ideas among Christians. It seems to me that the United States has the making of a disaster of great proportions on its hands.

Finally, I wrote Cast Up! because I am concerned about the eternal welfare of other people. If concern about people’s hunger, thirst, equality, and health care is commendable and something worthy of our efforts, then concern for people’s spiritual well-being and future situation is of greater importance. This site is just a small attempt to help.

I have made every effort to be brief in presentation. I have attempted to be as non-argumentative as possible and tried to state the truth as found in the Bible. I am prayerful that some good may come from this endeavor and contribute to the removal of stones from the path of people’s lives and free them to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. For those who already know the Lord, I hope something in this site will add to your walk with the Lord.

My caveat

As I mentioned, I desire to offer something to others that is beneficial and helpful. With that said, I must repeat the words eloquently written by George N. H. Peters, who in his introduction to his seminal work titled, The Theocratic Kingdom of Our Lord Jesus Christ, offered his work acknowledging the possiblity of some error. Peters writes,

Not that the writer claims to be completely free from error himself. Imperfection and a liability to err, are, more or less, the condition of all human writings, even of the most well inteded. Therefore, while, in illustrating or defending my own views, the opinions of others may be brought into review, it is far from me to assert that in some things, either through inadvertency, or ignorance, or prejudice, the author may not be ultimately found to be in error.

I am hopeful that I have tried to be as clear as possible in my presentation, neither trying to sensationalize nor overstate any of the subjects discussed.

A few words about my background

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Studies and a Master's of Religious Education from a biblically sound, conservative seminary. I am aware that education in and of itself is not a requirement to communicate the biblical message accurately, but for me personally, I consider it one of the most personally enriching and beneficial things I have done in my life.

Although I have already explained my reasons for writing this site, I would like to provide another point into its development. For a number of years beginning around 2013, I felt that I ought to attempt to do something tangible to help clarify people’s understanding of the Scriptures. The area of concern that I was interested in was the influences of worldviews and sources of information that pursuade people away from the Christian faith, particularly with our nation growing increasingly secular. When the spread of COVID-19 began during the first quarter of 2020, my normal ministry opportunities ceased and I turned my attention to this project.

I must confess that my academic prowess is not on par with professional researchers and book authors—the web site reflects that disparity. Nevertheless, I have tried to write the information as simply and concisely as possible within the limits of my own ability and without an aide to assist. As the old adage goes, “It is what it is.” With that said, I welcome feedback from readers. If you find typographical or grammatical errors and such (and no doubt there are some) and would like to bring them to my attention, please feel free to do so. If anyone has questions or would like clarification on any of the material presented on this site, feel free to write and I will respond to your inquiry. If you would just like to voice your opinion, positively or negatively, feel free to do so.

Free books

To anyone who may be interested, I offer two free books.

The first is titled, More Than a Carpenter, written by Josh McDowell. The book has been translated into dozens of languages and over 15 million copies printed.

The second is Global Reset, by Mark Hitchcock and Jeff Kinley. The book provides a summary of what is transpiring in the world today from a biblical perspective. A very important read for everyone.

These books are completely free of charge and in new and unused condition. Just write me an email with your address and I will mail them to you.

As stated on the web site’s privacy statement, I do not keep, maintain, or solicit any information of any sort.

Thank you again for visiting this site.
